Boat Dock Solar.
Let the Sun Pay for Fun.

Why not.?

You may ask yourself this question.  Why not?  Other than the initial cost, solar panels on boat docks only makes sense.  Water & electricity should never mix.  The way the docks electricity is fed from shore utility power is rather scary at times.  You have the possibility of the cables breaking during a storm and the electric line either snapping the pole or breaking in half and having live wires hanging in the water. What if the ground and neutral both break and only the hot wire is feeding the dock.  A swimmer could be the only path to ground the electricity has, therefore electrocuting a swimmer.  These are worse case scenarios but anytime there is utility electric provided to a floating structure, there is the possibility of one of these two situations occurring.

With a photovoltaic solar system on your dock you never have to worry about a storm ripping down any electric lines, or having to pay an electrician to come out & repair or replace the damaged wire.

There are other benefits, such as, getting rid of the utility meter entirely.  You are paying a minimum fee every month whether you use electricity or not.

Also not having poles trash up the scenery.  You can help reduce your carbon footprint for generations to come with a solar system on the roof of your dock.
